National Coaching Certificate update
The initiative which has used the working title ‘National Coaching Certificate’ (NCC), will be known as the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC) with immediate effect.
The UKCC is a key recommendation by the Coaching Task Force and will be a five-level flexible learning system, developed to build on good practice that already exists within existing coach education structures – and ensure equivalence of qualifications across sport.
Rt Hon Richard Caborn MP, Minister for Sport & Tourism said: “The official title, UK Coaching Certificate, was chosen after consultation with governing bodies of sports in the home countries. Although one agency, sports coach UK, is tasked with development, it has been vital to make the process consultative and inclusive, seeking the input of all stakeholders. The name ‘UKCC’ reinforces the need for organisations in the four countries to work together in the context of their individual sport. It also enables better international positioning of the UK as a nation at the forefront of coaching development.
“UKCC indicates the Government’s intention to improve the quality and standing of coaching, which will be vital to the development of sport and individuals.”
For further information about the UK Coaching Certificate please contact sports coach UK on (0113) 274 4802.

Existing and New Coaching Qualifications

How does your current award fit in with UKCC qualifications? The table below gives an indication of how the current awards fit in with UKCC in terms of level, however it must be recognised that much of the content of the new qualifications is very different therefore it is difficult to make direct comparisons

For more information on any of the above subjects, either contact the County Badminton Development Officer, Matt Hanson , on 07825981924 or email, or visit the BADMINTON England Web Site.
