U17 individual achievements for
SSBA members from the start of the season:
Liverpool Open 12th
& 13th September
• Josh tipper reached the quarter final stage of the boy’s
singles competition
• Josh Hull reached the semi-finals of the boy’s singles competition
• Oliver Blakemore and Josh Tipper reached the semi-finals of the
boy’s doubles competition prior to Josh retiring through injury
• Oliver Blakemore partnered with Chrissie Nettleton of Yorkshire
reached the semi-finals of the mixed competition
• Josh Hull and Zoe Hallam also reached the semi-finals of the mixed
competition
Yorkshire U17 Silver
Tournament at York on 10th October 2009
• Oliver Blakemore and Josh Tipper got gold medals when they won
the boy’s doubles competition.
• Josh Hull got a silver medal after getting to the final of the
boy’s singles competition.
Warwickshire U17
Silver Tournament at Warwick on 17th October 2009
• Oliver Blakemore and Josh Tipper got bronze medals for reaching
the semi-finals of the boy’s doubles competition
• Josh Hull partnered with Martin Drabble of Yorkshire got gold
medals when they won the boy’s doubles competition.
Worcestershire Silver
Tournament at Worcester on 28th November 2009
• Josh Tipper partnered with Matthew Harris of Bedfordshire (after
Oliver Blakemore pulled out through injury) got silver medals after reaching
the final of the boy’s doubles competition.
• Rebecca Lunt reached the quarter final stage of the girl’s
singles competition.
• Farid Akroum reached the quarter final stage of the boy’s
singles competition.
Lancashire U17 Silver
Tournament at Leigh on 12th December 2009
• Although the mixed was the first competition of the day it was
initially only played up to semi-final stage with the final taking place
around 6.00pm. Josh Tipper and Becky Lunt had a great start by beating
the very strong Worcestershire pairing of Adam Bowater and Evie Hamar
in a very close contest finally winning the third game 16-14. After winning
their group and another extremely tough semi-final they eventually picked
up silver medals after losing to Mathew Tolman and Terri-Lee Holmes of
Lancashire in the final 15-11, 15-11.
• Between getting through to the initial stages of the mixed competition
and playing the mixed final Josh Tipper had success in the boy's singles.
After both Josh Tipper and Josh Hull won their respective groups they
met in the quarter final with Josh Tipper winning in two very close exciting
games before getting through the semi final to meet Mark Pratt of Yorkshire
in the final. Josh was unlucky not to take gold in an extremely close
3 game final 15-13, 13-15, 16-18 picking up the silver medal.
• After the singles came the doubles and in the boy's competition
Josh Tipper and Oliver Blakemore got through their group to the quarter
finals stage. The remaining Staffs interest then rested with Josh Hull
who was partnered with Martin Drabble of Yorkshire. This successful pairing
got through to the final and eventually took silver medals after narrowly
losing in 3 games.
